The future Possible Olympic figure skate Championship

Karen Chen is just 12 years old and she won the novice 2012 Figure Skating National Championship. She works 4 hrs/day and 6 days/week for practices. Amazing!

You have to love to do what you are doing.  I like her attitude to face pressure.

"It is like a party, you made to this party, you just go out there and enjoy it. Have fun out there"

Good for her ! Nice Job and well done ! Good luck in your future competition!

Kinect Program Running On Win8 (My recent work-3)

Recently I installed my program on a Win 8 (Developer Preview) laptop, which is old Latitude D430, it has a intel core 2 duo CPU running @ 1.2 Ghz. Basically it is lower than the Kinect SDK requirement, which asks at least Dual-core 2.66Ghz or above.

When the D430 was running the Kinect program, it showed some lagged but basically it worked.

Why Apple's iPad/iPhone/iPod does not have zoom function on video record?

I recently used a new iPad for my Kinect Demo recording, and the new iPad's video quality is quite good. However, the pain part is for video recording, there is no zoom function.

I checked iPhone4 and iPod4, they are in the same pool. My htc android phone does have this function, I don't think it is hard for Apple put it on, but why not?

Anyway, I sent a email to Mr. Tim cook as follows:

Hi Mr. Cook,

Recently I used a new iPad for a video presentation recording, I even bought a iPad tripod mount for it. But I was astonished to find there is no video zoom function for the new iPad or iPad 2. Why????

Does Apple have any plan to add this function in the future?

 best regs,

 Henry

Tearing down the Dell latitude D410 and D430 (If you don't know, don't do it)

To de-assemble a laptop is used to be my hobby. I had torn down thinkpad ,dell latitude and Compaq laptop long time ago. Here are photos showing how to tear down a Dell latitude D430.

1. Taking off the battery (this is D410 model)

2. Taking off harddriver (this is D410 model)

3. Momory (this is D410 modle)

4. Front cover (this is D410 model)

5.Palm  Part (this D410 model)

6. Front of palm part

7. back of Palm part

8. Front of Base

9. Finish one

10. all the small parts (WLAN, Memory, Bluttooth, harddrive etc...)

Dell latitude model is quite good design and quality, my D430 is almost 5 years and still works fine. I update the OS to Win8 developer preview, it recognized almost all the hardware expect  the finger scan and bluetooth were not function. I noticed it more hotter than running Win7, however it depends its metal case, it  works well.

The laptop were dropped to floor several time, so fat it is fine.

The big disadvantages are the max memory is 2Gb and very slowly hard disk 4200 rpm and 1.8", which is very hard to find replacement.

More information for D430

Dead Kindle (frozen screen) and Fix method

Recently my kindle was dead, it stayed on a frozen screen and refuse to re-startup. Even you hold the power button to left for 20,30 seconds or 2 minutes.

Dead body of Kindle

If you plug it your computer, you will find a new unknown device if you use Windows starup- "Devices and Printer" like following

Basically your kindle's SD memory is broken. There is no easy way to fix this problem. If you really want to fix it by yourself, you can refer following video

Or you can just CALL AMAZON for new replacement.

html 5 Speech Input -very funny and easy function

Very funny , click the Micro button, say something.

Update: It looks like you need Google chrome to explore this page, the IE 9 and Firefox 11 can't see the microphone icon. It is weird, those explorer should support html5. I have no idea!
